Salon Goings On
The Salon helps us make space and time for what we love to do: write. But more than that, it invites us to engage with the otherwise solo, and sometimes grueling, process of writing in a way that's more connected, accountable, and encouraging.
Anne Lamott says, "an occupational hazard of writing is that you'll have bad days. You feel not only totally alone but also that everyone else is at a party. But if you talk to other people who write, you remember that this feeling is part of the process, that it's inevitable."
We can't write for you, but we will help you feel less alone. We hope you'll find what you need to keep at it. Join us!

Writing as a practiceThe Salon started as a MeetUp group to connect and reflect, but mostly to "write alone, but together." Holding space to practice putting words onto the page is still our meat and potatoes.
We have many two-hour Salons weekly. Members can simply join. Others can try a Salon (or couple) to see if membership suits you. Support and feedbackWe know many writers want to connect with fellow writers in their same genre to discuss writing pickles, exchange resources, and trade work.
Affinity Circles are opportunities to connect with writers who get what you're working through, to talk through process and receive feedback on your writing. |
Exploring the processIf you're navigating the often arduous experience of publishing, our interactive A&A Q&A (agent & author question & answer) series is for you.
Each season, we host experienced agents and authors from different facets of the publishing world to share the behind the scenes of their writing and publishing process. Reading about writingOur book club is unlike any other: we read books about writing. Rather than discuss once, we read and practice with one book over a season.
We meet every other Saturday to discuss and, sometimes, play with prompts. All members welcome. Check out the latest book we're reading and how to join. |
Accountability boosterProject groups are for writers who meet weekly at the same day and time for ~ 12 weeks and work on a single project. It's still about writing together, but with a booster of accountability and connection.
Groups kick off anew each season (in March, June, September, and December) and meet Mondays and Saturdays. Groups are open to Project members. Getting to know writersTurns out, writers are the best humans. Thoughtful, introspective, curious, we are fun to hang out with beyond writing. We have seasonal potlucks, movie nights, and other fun social occasions.
Social time is unstructured, though may involve a spontaneous game. We're always open to ideas or requests for fun. |
The Salon is supported by memberships. Learn more about membership here.
